Last weekend in Niigata we stayed in three different places, on three nights, so every night we stayed in a different place. The first place we stayed was a Japanese-style hotel, called a ryokan. It was very, very fancy. They set up your rooms for you, and left some buns in your room for you to eat. When we got there we had a very fancy dinner after a nice bath in the onsen. Our dinner was really good. It had a bunch of different meats and other great different mixtures of greens and meats and stuff. Me and Evan got some special kids' meals, but they were way too big for us to eat all of it.
The second night we stayed in a different place, it was owned by some really good friends of the people we were traveling with. It was nice because it felt so welcoming, because everyone ate dinner together at one big table. The people there were so nice. Our rooms were about the same size, and it was neat because we got to help on the rice farms, because the owners of the hotel owned some rice fields. So we got to work in them a bit. The way they set up the rooms was neat. When you came in, there was a big table where everyone ate. You changed out of your own shoes and slipped into some slippers when you came in. And then if you go to your left, you get to go upstairs. And then you go down a big hallway. Instead of everyone having their own bathroom in their room, there's three big sinks and then there was the bathrooms with a sink at the back of the toilet so when you flush the water comes out of the faucet so you can wash your hands there, too. And then in between the girls bathroom and the men's bathroom, there was another sink where you could wash your hands. So that was the second place we stayed.
The third place was our friends' house. They had a nice, big apartment. So me and Evan shared a room. I think what was great about being at our friends' house is that it felt really cozy and they were really nice to us and made us wonderful food. ( By the way, the other places had wonderful food, too.) And we got to all sit in one room. They are really close friends cause they've known me and Evan ever since we were babies.
The next night, we were back at our house. And that's the places we stayed in on our trip to Niigata.
